چکیده

This paper presents a maximum a posteriori (MAP) equalizer for bandlimited signals on frequency selective fading channels. A key contribution is the way in which the state-space of the MAP trellis is expanded for the purpose of joint channel estimation and equalization. The fading channel is estimated by coupling minimum mean square error techniques with the expanded MAP trellis. The symbol-by-symbol MAP algorithm is a soft-input soft-output technique. The new MAP receiver can also be applied to iterative (turbo) decoding. Simulations demonstrate the performance of the proposed demodula-tor. Both uncoded systems and turbo coded systems with frequency selective channels are studied.

Joint MAP equalization and channel estimation for frequency-selective and frequency-flat fast-fading channels

This paper presents a new fractionally-spaced maximum a posteriori (MAP) equalizer for data transmission over frequency-selective fading channels. The technique is applicable to any standard modulation technique. The MAP equalizer uses an expanded hypothesis trellis for the purpose of joint channel estimation and equalization. The fading channel is estimated by coupling minimum mean square erro...

Joint Map Detection and Channel Estimation for Cdma over Frequency-selective Fading Channels

This paper presents a centralized multiuser maximum a posteriori (MAP) detector for code division multiple access (CDMA) signals on frequency-selective fast-fading channels. Importantly, the algorithm does not assume perfect channel state information at the receiver. The key idea is to expand the hypothesis trellis for the purpose of joint channel estimation and equalization for all users. Usin...

DPSK versus pilot-aided PSK MAP equalization for fast-fading channels

This letter compares pilot-aided phase-shift keyed (PSK) and differential PSK (DPSK) modulation when using new maximum a posteriori joint channel estimation and equalization receivers with frequency-selective fast-fading channels. We conclude that pilot-aided PSK has superior bit-error rate performance in this case. However, at low signal-to-noise ratio, performance is similar, and DPSK is comp...

Dpsk vs. Pilot-aided Psk Map Equalization for Fast-fading Channels

In this paper, we extend our recent work in maximum a posteriori (MAP) equalization for frequency-selective fast-fading channels to the case of diieren-tially encoded transmitted symbols. The equalizer employs an expanded trellis for the purpose of joint channel estimation and equalization. Channel estimation is performed using minimum mean square error (MMSE) techniques coupled with the hypoth...

Joint channel estimation and equalization for fast time-variant multipath channels

This paper presents a method for joint channel and data estimation for transmission over frequency–selective and time–variant channels. Hereby, fast time–variant channels can be tracked, which is important for mobile communications at very high velocities. We approach the problem by estimating the scattering function, which is assumed to be limited in delay and Doppler frequency. At the transmi...
